Sew-Along Day 4, Steps 24, 28-31

Hi there!  Back for more Portfolio Dress Sew-Along fun?  I've been tucking all the sew-along posts in a handy archive, which you can access HERE.  I'm so grateful to Gwen and all the hard work she put into making this sew-along.  As always, we want to see what you've been making!  Be sure to add your photos to the flickr pool.

Today I'll show you how I put together the neckband for my dress. Be sure to click over to Gwen's to see steps 32-33!

Sew-Along Day 2, Steps 6-10

Here we go with Day 2 of our Portfolio Dress Sew-Along.

Be sure to add your pics to the Flickr Pool.  If you've got a tip you've learned as you go, it's a great place to show it off.  Gwen will be featuring Steps 13-16 today (11 and 12 don't apply to View A) so be sure to pop over there next.

Don't forget, we're sewing with a 5/8" seam allowance.
We'll dive right in to steps 6-10.

Sew-Along Day 1, Cutting out the pattern pieces

Welcome, everyone, to the Portfolio Dress Sew-Along hosted by Gwenny Penny and Pickup Some Creativity.  I'm Chris, if you're new around here.  Nice to sew along with you!

I’m so excited to be collaborating with Gwen on this project. Our sew along was even mentioned on the Lisette blog! How cool is that?!? If you follow along with us, you will have a Portfolio Dress by the end of the week. We have a Flickr group set up so you can share your dresses with everyone. If you fall behind or don’t have time to keep up, don’t worry. We are going to wait until next Friday, May 6th to feature people’s dresses. This will give you some extra time to finish up. If you are playing along and haven't grabbed a button yet, there's a grab box in my sidebar.

Today I'm covering preparing all the pattern pieces we need, while Gwen will cover Steps 1-5.  Be sure to click over to her blog for the next installment.

Portfolio Sew-Along Begins in 7 days!

Hi there everyone!

Are you up for a little "selfish" sewing? Gwen and I are making preparations for the Portfolio Dress/Tunic Sew-Along. Starting next Monday (April 25, 2011), We will show you how we put together our dresses, and any tips or tricks we learn along the way.

So, grab your pattern, your fabric, and get ready for some sewing fun.  If you want to do some prep work, read through the pattern a few times.  You may even want to read through an old post of mine, Tips for Using Purchased Patterns.  Be sure to look through the comments....lots of great info there!

I used freezer paper and a little tissue paper to make my pattern copies.

Also, would you grab a button? We'd love for as many to join as possible. We'll include a flickr pool and try to make this as interactive as possible. Don't worry...we're all in this together!

I'm really excited to make my dress/tunic! (Haven't decided on length, yet.)
Thank you Gwen, for co-hosting.

Guess what? The Lisette Blog has posted about our sew-along HERE! SQUEAK!

UPDATE!  You can find all the sew-along posts archived HERE.
