For my sister-in-law (and by extension her hubby), I pulled out a vintage pattern and made her a lovely apron. I think everything home-related goes better when you wear a fabulous apron.
I had to make sure it looked good on, right? |
The fabric is from Free Spirit's Savon Bouquet. (You saw the other piece in the Swaddle Blankie.) I'm kicking myself for not snatching more up last summer. I LOVE it. The red I found at hobby lobby, the check from my stash. I made the piping around the bodice to match. The skirt is bound with matching bias tape.
For her family, a birthday banner. I kept it in primary colors since she has two boys and two girls.
I really need to update my letters...I found a few things to change, like the letter "t".
For all my nieces/nephews we were gifting to this year (and my own kidlets), ribbon candy ornaments:
For my parents:
A fabulous quilted table runner, using Amy's tutorial. The back reverses to the same fabric I bound it in. I love the colors and how they glow!
For my brother and his wife:
His and her oven mitts, using a new pattern I made up. Tutorial to make some for yourself is HERE.
There are a few more things I made, like PJs for my children. I figured this post was long enough, so I'll show those off another time.
On another note, January's Sewing 101 guest post will debut on Saturday. What a great way to begin the new year!

I love all of it!! Such wonderful, flawless projects and great use of fabric and coordination.
PS I must make those ribbon candy ornaments for next year!
Chris, I love all your handmade gift ideas. I especially liked the idea of having the kids make t-shirts. I've been wanting to help my kids make gifts for each other so they can share the same tradition I have. That might be something I can handle.
I love the birthday banner! I think it is fantastic that you used a cupcake to make the space between the words. What fun!
In love with it all. Great gift ideas. Super in love with the apron.

I REALLY need to make one of those banners at some point. What a great gift idea, too. It's something that would definitely get a lot of use, create memories, and be a hit at a party. Thank you so much for linking up again, sweet friend!

Jami

You have some lovely ideas ....especially love the idea of giving a birthday banner...thanks for sharing and also stopping by my space too.
I am in love with the apron (and so is Dan due to the Golden Graham S'mores I made with it on). The banner will be used so often and the ornaments are ready for next Christmas. Thanks again!
