Five for Friday

Just a fun summary of what we've been up to around here.

It's been another busy week.
First up, getting closer to finishing Big Sister's new room.  We sanded down the texture, and began installing the finished trim around the windows and doors.

School is back in session, and included a fun project that Sis put together all on her own.

In keeping with my new diet, I tried my hand at making my own almond flour, following THIS recipe.  It was a little time intensive.  I'm not sure if it's worth the effort.  If I can find a cheaper source, I'll just buy from now on.

It was nice to have something baked to try, although it definitely doesn't taste the same as wheat flour baked goods.  FYI, I tried these chocolate zucchini muffins.

Dolly's been doing lots of drawing.  I bought some end rolls of paper from the local printer, and Dolly likes to make "maps".  I love her little people she is drawing...complete with eyebrows.

Digging around in the barn, I found these:

I'm thinking the wood trays could make a cool frame, and the wire baskets might work in the kids bathroom after getting a good wash and a coat of paint.  Oh, the possibilities if I can get off the grime.

Wishing you a lovely weekend.  My parents are coming for a visit, and I'm excited.

Oooh treasures from the barn!! Those are super cool.

I love, love Dolly's people - I remember being so enamored of the girls' drawings at that age when they did the same type of detailed stick figures with eyebrows and ten fingers and toes!!

My girls loved and continue to love to draw maps. I remember C's early maps were a series of squares and you crossed into different squares to get to different locations.

I would love to C how Dolly draws her maps. Maps are such a fascinating way of seeing the world and I love to see how kids interpret it.

The first picture of Dolly and Big Sis is wonderful. I love Big Sis's intense concentration (you can see it in her neck and fingers and I guess from looking at photos of her over the years on your blog that it is a look she wears a lot) and Dolly's observation.

Dolly is always smiling! I like the wire baskets for shoe corral in the garage. Send them East.

Wow, look at that project, it's a work of art Big Sis! And so are Dolly's people. :)

You found those in the barn?!!! Both the trays and the baskets are beautiful. I look forward to seeing what you do with them Chris!

I just resaw this...you tried to make almond flour? I must have missed that when I last read it. I'm very impressed - even if it was a bit of a faff to make!
