The other day I needed to whip together a simple skirt.
Thank goodness for the Oliver + S Lazy Days Skirt.
I had this lovely linen blend fabric I'd found on sale last fall (Valori Wells Jenaveve Linen in Leaves in Raspberry), and also had the wide grosgrain ribbon in my stash, so this was truly a quick project.
I added a second row of topstitching to make the ribbon pop.
I also sew a row of stitching down the middle of the elastic casing, stretching it all tight as I go, to make the elastic stay in place.
I loved how the heavier linen gathered, and hung so nicely. I hope the recipient enjoys the skirt, too.
Have you tried this free pattern before? I've used it as a basis for skirts for my girls before. You can see them HERE.

Gorgeous! The ribbon detailing is so pretty.
The colors make me think of maraschino cherries in pink ice cream - yum!!
I think the ribbon trim makes the skirt, pop it does.
