I'm not sure how to start this post. The last five days have brought some tremendous changes to my life.
I'm borrowing my dear friend's laptop, because mine spontaneously perished this morning. How's the saying go...when it rains it pours? I wish it was just rain! :)
Until I can resurrect the hard drive, all the photos I took and the work I scanned are inaccessible. I'd backed up all my photos except the last upload. Of course.
I took these gorgeous sunset photos last month. The colors were just so lovely, I ran outside and started snapping away. If you'd told me when I took these photos what would have happened this last weekend, I'd have laughed.
I remember several years ago as I witnessed a patient describing how their hearing loss had hit so suddenly. I was struck with the thought that life can change so much in one day. The day before, everything was fine, life was going smoothly, and the next everything can change. That is the reality that I am faced with tonight as I type this.
I don't want to be too cryptic, but I had a sudden change in my eyesight and health over the past weekend, and I found out the cause today. Literally, I took a short nap, and when I woke up my vision had changed. It's going to take a few weeks to get everything back in balance, but I am so grateful for good medical doctors, loving family, and the knowledge I have that things will work out. I am absolutely sure that I will be fine. I can't type the word yet, but you may guess when I tell you I have to eliminate sugar completely from my diet (!!!), and have some unpleasant routines I have to add to my day. There's no family history, but somehow I still hit the jackpot.
So, posting will be a bit sparse, but I promise to be back to a regular routine as soon as I have a working computer.
Thank you for reading my ramblings and cheering me on as I continue to learn how to do hard things, and create a beautiful life in the process.

Good luck and I hope you find the balance quickly and relatively painlessly. Thank you for all you share, all of it is inspirational!
I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through so much, but I'm glad to hear that it sounds like it is treatable. I'm sorry if it's going to impact your daily life though. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Awww, so sorry to hear how things are going :( Hope things can get back to semi-normal for you, thinking & praying!
Just sent you an email friend. Thinking of you.
Oh I am so sorry to hear about this sudden change. Thinking and praying that you will get through this and find balance. Hugs.
Wishing you all the best. Truly.
You are in my thoughts and prayers, Chris. May the support of all your friends and loved ones give you added strength and courage. xoxo
Traci (amazing Mae) has a little boy with diabetes. It came on fast when he was 18 months old. She's become really educated since then. I'm sure she'd be willing to give advice if you need it.
Be well.

The same thing happened to my mom a few years ago. It really scared her at first. But she rallied and made all the necessary (and positive) changes. She feels healthy again, and she looks fabulous.
You are a strong one, and I know you'll get this under control too Chris. Take care of yourself, okay?
Cyber Canadian bear hugs to you!

Your health comes first. We will still be here when you are better.
Oh, Sweetie. I am thinking of you and sending you prayers.
Sorry about the bad news, am sure you will conquer it just like you did when you built your house on your own as a family. Stay strong & positive & you can manage this just fine. I so enjoy your posts and have learned a lot from you. Take all the time you need to get healthy and we will be here when you're better. ksolo59@hotmail.com
I feel so sorry for you. But I'm sure you're a strong woman and soon will be ok again! We're with you. Get well soon!
So sorry to hear your bad news. Hope you are feeling better and sending you hugs!
I am sorry to hear of your newest trial. My husband was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 11. We have 5 children and our baby was diagnosed about a year ago. (She is 2). Diabetes is an adjustment for you and the whole family, but I promise...it gets easier. It becomes your new "normal" and you will make it!!! Thanks for sharing. I love your blog.
Kara
I am sending you very big hugs!!!!
I have a strong family history of diabetes and am almost certain it's around the corner for me one day. I've seen how my family have managed, and know while it requires changes, it is manageable and there are a lot worse things to have to deal with. I hope your transition to the new balance gies smoothly.
Yep when it rains it pours Chris :(. My niece is an inspiration for anyone dealing with diabetes She is a mom of two young children, type 1 diabetic and lives her life so normally you would never know the struggles she goes through to keep her sugar levels balanced practically hourly. That must of been so scary waking up from your nap, but it sounds like you have great doctors and famity support. Check out Lindsay's blog for some great recipes she has for diabetics delighted momma.com. It is manageable Chris, you can do it!
Oh - I missed a big one there and I don't know how. I am glad you are moving forward and with success. I will pray for you as you make the transition. My Dad managed his TypeII for probably fifteen years before he had to go on medication but it took huge changes and a lot of hard work. But I know from reading your blog that you are a hard worker and aren't afraid of change so I am positive you will be just fine!!
(((((Chris)))))
I too missed this post somehow... so sorry to hear your news; however, it's just a new challenge and... as they say at work... another opportunity for growth! *wink*
Oh no. How did I miss this Chris?! I just saw your muffin post and went back to find this. I know you will work hard and find the light in all of this...that's just who I know you are. Hang in there and know that you are being thought of. HUGS.
