I am slowly working on some art work and fun things for our dining room wall. (We've also been putting in sprinklers and finishing that room downstairs!) I'd seen this sweet wreath on pinterest, and wanted to try my own version.
I just loved the texture!
I've made my own wreath form previously, and the nice part is that it was free, and I could make things flat for ease of hanging.
First, I cut out three sets of graduated corrugated cardboard. I used a plate as the outer template, and a small lid as the inner circle template. I carefully cut the cardboard with a utility knife. The smaller rings were just a 1/4" smaller than the previous one. I glued them all together with wood glue. I had some extra hanging around.
After the glue dried, I wrapped everything with left-over bias tape from my dad's chenille blanket. I had my handy low-temp glue gun, and tacked the fabric to the back of the form and wrapped, tacking as I went.
Then came the fun part... gluing all those lima beans in place! I suggest starting in the inner circle, and working your way around.
It was really kind of fun and therapeutic to glue this all down. Did I mention how much I love the texture?
Once all glued and the extra strings removed, I added a large satin ribbon for hanging.
Now to finish up all the other things I want to hang with this wreath!
Love it, Chris! Still love that wreath form idea, too. Hope you're well... I've missed you :)
ReplyDeleteI love the texture too! Ombré is so hot right now, wouldn't it be fun to do it to this one too? I think I might try it lol
