Final moments.

We're so close to being completed with the first phase of our home.  Final inspections are today and tomorrow, and as soon as we get our occupancy permit, we'll start moving in.

Last week has been crazy busy with final tiling jobs, finishing the laminate flooring, and lots of ticky-tack stuff that has to be finished before we can move in.  It's meant long days, and exhaustion has set in.

This is where we found Dolly the other night as we were locking up to go back to our rental home.  I still can't believe she fell asleep on that metal bench!

It's been hot here, as it has around the country.  That also means we get more pop-up thunderstorms.  I looked outside our front window Saturday night to see this:

I love to see rainbows.  A double rainbow is even more fun.  It was a great reminder to take a moment and savor all that we've been blessed with.

I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to build our home.  Our family has learned so much about hard work, dedication to a goal, and seeing a project through to completion.  It will be a sweet thing to be able to finally live in the place we've poured so much of ourselves into.  I'm also looking forward to not having it be the total focus of our lives.

A final happy thought?  Our sky blue front door.  It took a couple tries to find the right color...and I love it.  I love that our house reflects it's surroundings.

Wishing you a fabulous week.  We'll be a bit busy, and I still have to arrange internet over at the new house, so posting will be a bit sporadic for the next few weeks.

  2. Oh - poor Dolly - I am so glad you are almost done with the biggest things and are almost ready to move in - will try much landscaping this year or save it for next (I don't now how soon it will be before your cold weather sets in).
