Something sweet

A little while back, I saw Pioneer Woman's Oatmeal Whoopie Pie recipe post, and knew I needed to try it.  One of Mr. Pickup's favorite treats are Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies.

This looked like a great DIY version.
The only thing I didn't like about this recipe was the frosting.  Although Ree calls it the best frosting ever, I didn't love it.

I brought some of the cookies out to the house during a weekend as a treat, and we ended up with frosting smooshed all over the yard.  (Thankfully not the house!)

The cookie part gets 5 stars, the frosting 3 stars.  I think next time I'll use my tried and true buttercream.  Any fun recipes you've tried lately?

  2. They look good - if that is a consolation.

Just baked oatmeals from Budget Bites.

  4. Scrumptious-looking! (There's nothing quite like buttercream eh?)

  5. I made similar "whoopie" pie cookies this week.... Mine was a carrot cookie and cream cheese frosting. I find it's a perfect snack for the kids lunches... I may have to try the oatmeal now...:)

  7. These look really good, Chris. What a treat! I'm not a big frosting fan at all. Maybe they'd be good with ice cream in between :)
