I realize a lot of this has to do with the fact we're squished in this little house temporarily. It may have to do with the fact that all six of us share one bathroom for now. Maybe even that we eat our meals at the couch because there was no room for the kitchen table in the kitchen. I decided it was time to do something positive. So I made a new banner. As a reminder for the kids of how I expect them to behave. I'll let you know if it actually helps. :) Meantime, since we get 3 channels with our rabbit ears, I let Dolly watch a movie when I shower. Toy story is a favorite.
The banner is one of the first things you see when you come in from the front door. Nothing subtle this time.
I used some of my favorite fabrics. Like this Sandi Henderson Meadowsweet I've hoarded for forever. For the sake of not sewing more than I needed to, I went with the oh, so trendy @ symbol. I'm cool like that. Just don't ask me to use twitter.
A good friend of mine actually made a banner that said "love at home". Thanks for the inspiration, Lana. In case you're wondering, the words come from a lovely hymn we sing at church. The first line says, "There is beauty all around when there's love at home." I'm praying we have a little more love and less fighting.
I am really enjoying this blend of colors. I'm calling it my citrus colorway.
I also learned it's easier to cut out 3 pennants at the same time, than just one. In case you're wondering, I used my Birthday Banner pattern, and Modern Letters (which I've finally updated a bit!).

ReplyDeletesuper cute and a great message too! Love at Home is one of my favorite hymns. I have been known to start singing it when my kids are fighting, which they, of course, hate. Although, they do request that song at bedtime so maybe they don't hate it as much as I think!

ReplyDeleteI feel that way about our home also, cramped and cluttered. I love the banner and your fabric choices. I made my oldest daughter a market skirt using Meadowsweet but in a different colorway.

I hear ya on this one! One thing I just can't handle is kids fighting. I often chime in with this song just to make them smirk and realize it's silly. I think I need a banner too! The fabrics you used are perfect!
