Sweater Cuff Clippies

A few weeks ago I shared some of my recent thrifty finds.  One of my primary reasons for going was to find some clothes for Baby...who is rapidly turning into a little girl before my eyes.  I found the cutest blouse and matching sweater, however they were a size too big.  I thought they would work, with a little tailoring.  For the shirt, I took off the cuffs, and shortened the sleeves and put the cuffs back on.  I also hemmed the shirt.  I repeated those steps for the sweater, but didn't put the cuffs back on.  I just made a rolled hem.  I saved the sweater cuffs, and thought they'd be fun for something.  I came up with sweater cuff clippies.

To make the clippies, I gathered the cuffs into a center point.  I found some fun chunky buttons in my stash that coordinated perfectly.  I sewed one in the middle of the gathers, and tied it all together.

Next, I traced the snap clippies onto some felt adding about 1/8" for sewing.  I cut two pieces of felt for each clippie.

I sewed the flower onto one of the felt pieces.

Then I took the other felt piece, and cut a small slit and slipped the clippie through the hole.

Sandwiching the top of the clippie between the felt, I sewed the two pieces together.

I also sewed the sweater cuff onto the felt in a few more places to make it more secure.

I hope you're enjoying your Thanksgiving Holidays.  We're visiting our family, and having a grand time seeing all the aunts and cousins.

  2. Ok, first of all how cute is she? She is a natural beauty, and so photogenic. Love that sweater, and how you made the hair clip with the scraps. It looks like a mini anthropologie item. Great job!
