It really was.
The extended blogging break was nice also...unplanned, but nice.
Christmas morning dawned, and Santa had arrived. Wishes were fulfilled, cinnamon rolls were eaten, and we had a lovely relaxing day.
I made a special Christmas dinner for our family, even using our special Christmas china! I had saved some evergreen boughs, and made a center piece with tea lights nestled in epsom salts in some of my mason jars. Very fancy for us!
Here are the candles that night. I loved the sparkly glow.
The day after Christmas, the snow arrived.
And so did the flu. By New Year's Eve, everyone had a cough, fever, and had spent too much time in bed. We spent several days with our high temperature no more than 10 degrees (Fahrenheit), and freezing fog left it's mark around the yard.
Thankfully, the children didn't start back to school until yesterday, so everyone was well again in time.
I hope this finds all of you well and happy. I promise to get back into the swing of things soon.
Was your New Years as low key as mine?
It look lovely - a quiet family Christmas - sorry it ended on a rather ick note but glad the kids are well for going back to school!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you all were ill over the holidays... at least it wasn't on Christmas day! The candles look great and your china is lovely! And snow the day after? Very cool...
ReplyDeleteGlad you're all on the mend! Happy new year!!!
We seemed to somehow miss that flu, so sorry to hear it came to your house :(. Wow I do not have a clue how I would survive that weather, and I thought it has been chilly here, 32 degrees at night lol. Glad you all are better!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Chris!! Such beautiful photos, I am happy you had such a joyous celebration. The photo of the dogs in the snow is especially lovely. Nothing like a lab in the snow....
ReplyDeleteLoving reading through your blog this morning. Your Christmas looked magical. I love the fun centerpiece you made for Christmas dinner. There is something fun and magical about candlelight. Sad you ended up with the flu at your house after Christmas though. We had a pretty quiet New Years too. Brian's parents were here to meet baby Lucy and Brian and his Dad spent the day putting together a playset in the backyard while his Mom and I played with kids and enjoyed a baby. I have been the crazy lady with hand sanitizer and washing of hands in fear of the disease the could sneak in at any moment. Hope your are enjoying your week Chris!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Chris! Happy New Year! Your Christmas sounds like it was wonderful. We were sick here, too. Not sure if it was the flu, but scarily high fevers for a week. Not fun. Glad to hear you and yours are getting back to normal. Hope you're feeling well :)
ReplyDeleteHappy happy New Year Chris! So nice to hear you're all feeling better after the flu. It seems to be reaching epidemic proportions this year. Touch wood, we've managed to dodge it so far. Praying that trend will continue, but we'll see!
ReplyDeleteThat last outdoor photo is magical. Beautiful capture!
What is it with the dang flu this year, it seems to have hit in masses around the same time. I agree with Michele, the last photo is quite magical, looks fake even. Great shot.
