Some happy circumstances are aligning right now. Liesl Gibson ( of Oliver+S fame) has just released her first set of patterns for women...and they are on sale right now at JoAnn's for $1.99. Hurry, go grab one!
I am not affiliated with Liesl, just a fan of her designs. I think it would be fun to try a sew-along of one of her new patterns, next month when it feels more like spring and my wardrobe is ready for something happy. My favorite was the Portfolio Dress. Would you guys be game? Let me know!
oh my gosh! Thanks for the heads up!! I had no idea they were at Joann's and so cheap!! Headed there tomorrow!!

I just heard yesterday that these patterns are available. I also heard that she has a fabric line at Joann's now, too. I think I might be up for it, Chris, depending on the timing.
ReplyDeleteDon't know Jo-ann's (Canadian reader!), but looked at the webpage and can only find the fabric so I guess its an instore only offer? Are they really only $1.99, as they seem to be on offer at $12.99 on the designers website, so if thats the deal I could order directly from there?
ReplyDeleteThanks! They look like great patterns.
I was patiently waiting for Simplicity patterns to go on sale this week and finally yesterday I went and got them all! :-) I am so excited, and YES, I would love to do a sew-along of that same dress. I even got the fabrics, pattern pieces cut and everything. Can you feel my anxiety? :-)
ReplyDeletelovely dress. I'd love to take part in the sew-along. Does anyone know where can I find the downloadable version? Joann doesn't ship internationally (I live in Spain) and I've tried google with no luck.
ReplyDeletethanks
Well, the previous comment was accidentally written using the google account of my husband.
ReplyDeleteSorry.
Maria
IMPORTANT: for those who live outside the US or want to order the pattern online.
ReplyDeleteI've found the pattern at sewingpatterns.com. The direct link is http://www.sewingpatterns.com/sub_item.php?item_num=2245SIM&model=%&new_category=search&view=gallery&brand=&category=search&pageGoto=0&pageFormat=3|186|186&pageCount=18&search=simplicity%202245&return=yes
It only costs $7.99 (a lot less than at the sewlisette web which is 12.95) and international shipping costs are only $6.45.
Unfortunately I haven't found any downloadable version. I hope it helps.
Just ordered the pattern! Can't wait it to arrive and start to sew. It will be the 3rd item I sew for myself
Hoorah for the internet! A fellow knitter on ravelry has purchased three out of four patterns for me, and is popping them in the post....sadly not the portfolio (sold out), but I get most of the fun anyway! Thanks for the heads up on this great pattern deal.
ReplyDelete@MariaThanks, Maria for finding that info! Hooray for international participants!
ReplyDeletewhy oh why doesn't charlotte have a JoAnns?? I really want to try her patterns! Maybe I can find it on sale at Hancocks or Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeleteYes, lets do a sew-along!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely join a sew along for this dress. I picked the pattern up today, but I didn't see any Lisette fabrics. I'm sure I just missed them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! Went and got them all for that price! Love them! Had never seen them before!
ReplyDeleteCatching up on my post-vacation reading. This is great, had no idea. I told Gwen I would be interested as well. I saw Marla has commented above with a link to those of us outside US, so I will check that out and see if I can secure the pattern. Thanks for this Chris!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I just put in the order (shipping costs almost as much as the pattern!) so I can't wait. I think I have something in my stash I can use, even better.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the pattern last night from Fabricland (for the benefit of my fellow Canadians). It is my understanding that the pattern is sold anywhere Simplicity patterns are sold, so be sure to check around. I've never made a dress (other than for a child), so I will be following along very closely!
ReplyDeleteI just found this through Gwenny Penny's blog and decided I'm game for it. I'm (re-)learning to sew (might as well say I'm a beginner again) so this may be an interesting challenge, but i am really up to it. i really love this pattern: it's modest enough for my standards and probably would wear it as a tunic w/jeans rather than a dress.
ReplyDeleteI'm game, thanks to diyanthrogal! I already have the fabric and all :)
ReplyDeleteI want to play - let's do it! I have all these new Lisette patterns on my "to buy" list!
ReplyDeleteJust picked up my pattern yesterday, I'm excited to be doing my first sew along!!
